De lente komt eraan en de zon schijnt weer vaker. Mensen bloeien op en voelen zich fitter. Maar na een winter met weinig daglicht en veel binnen zitten is je weerstand vaak laag. Ik hoor veel gesnotter en gehoest om me heen. Laatst was ik zelf ook even gevloerd. Mijn hele lichaam deed pijn en ik voelde me koortsig. Niks ernstigs, maar heel vervelend. Gelukkig kan yoga verlichting geven.

Bij griep en koorts moet je geen intensieve yogahoudingen doen. Misschien zelfs helemaal geen houdingen. Meditatie is wel heel goed om te doen. Dit kan gewoon in bed. Liggend of zittend en lekker onder je dekbed. Liggend raakte ik, zonder echt in slaap te vallen, verstrikt in allerlei koortsdromen. Slapen vind ik een geweldig medicijn, maar dat lukt niet met overal pijn. Dus mediteerde ik zittend. Eerst kort wat yogaoefeningen tegen de pijn. Alles zo lui mogelijk. Niet forceren, eigenlijk alleen een beetje rekken alsof je net wakker bent.
- Voetzolen tegen elkaar en voorover hangen met je bovenlichaam.
- Armen boven je hoofd strekken, handen vast en ver naar achter reiken.
- Daarna opzij buigen
- Met gestrekte benen naar je voeten reiken
Alleen maar ademen
Daarna ga je zitten en dat hoeft niet kaarsrecht. Je mag jezelf ondersteunen met kussens of tegen het hoofdeinde van je bed. Zorg wel dat je een beetje rechtop zit. Dan kan de energie in je lichaam beter stromen, kunnen afvalstoffen beter afgevoerd worden en is er meer ruimte voor je longen. Dat laatste is wel fijn als je verkouden bent en je neus en luchtwegen verstopt zitten.
Adem een keer diep in en uit (desnoods door je mond) en volg daarna je adem met je aandacht. Voel hoe je inademt en hoe je uitademt. Dit is het enige.

Misschien komen er wel allemaal frustraties naar boven over hoe je je voelt. Duw die niet weg, maar ga gewoon door met je adem volgen. Doe de oefening zo lang je wil. Hopelijk geeft het wat rust en komen je lichaam en geest weer in balans en ben jij snel weer fit. Als je moe wordt en wil slapen, mag dat. Goed uitrusten is belangrijk voor je herstel. Dit mag je natuurlijk ook allemaal doen als je niet ziek bent.
